Part of the Westwood College Online Learning Resource Center, the Westwood Online Course Resource Library is designed to assist students with their courses and provide resources for research. This guide will help you with basic navigation through and use of the library.

Accessing the Westwood Online Course Resource Library

You may access the Westwood Online Course Resource Library two ways.

  1. When you initially log in to Westwood Online, click on the "Learning Resources" tab on your personal home page. Then, click on the link for the Westwood Online Course Resource Library. You'll find this on the left navigational pane.
  2. Or, if you have logged in to your course, click on the "Library" content item listed on your course home page.
Navigating the Westwood Online Course Resource Library
You may navigate through the online library by using the left scroll menu or the library content pages. You may use whichever method is most convenient.
Beginning your Research

Several main headings are listed in the left navigation scroll menu. Underneath these headings, you can find a variety of resources. Following is specific information relative to each subheading.

Under the Library heading you will find the following resources:

  1. Subscription Databases: You may access these academic databases, which are paid subscriptions supported by Westwood College. The databases include scholarly-reviewed, full-text, topical articles in periodicals and professional journals.
  2. General Reference: This section provides links to search engines, dictionaries, thesauri, news, maps and several other resources.
  3. Library Services: This section includes personal resources. You may access online assistance with research, learn research and citation skills, brush up on your study skills, and locate local, state, and national libraries.
  4. Give Me a Break!: When you need a break from your research, you may use this link to play online games and read fun facts.
Using Course Resources

Below this heading, you will find all of the courses Westwood Online offers. Each course has three main components.

  1. Course home page: This serves as a gateway to course resources.
  2. Course websites: You may access web resources specific to the course selected.
  3. Text resources: This section allows you to view the textbooks required for each course as well as additional recommended reading.
Accessing the Tutoring Center
If you would like assistance to better understand your course material, access the Tutoring Center from the library homepage. Here you will find more information and directions for accessing the tutoring services WOL provides.
